View Giraffe, Zebra and a variety of antelope on the Thali Thali Game Drive, try your hand at Archery , and see 500 million year old fossils with your own eyes at West Coast Fossil Park site
Upon arrival you will receive ‘boeretroos’ (farmers comfort) coffee / tea and West Coast Home Baked Rusks or farm-fresh bread. Then head off on your guided Game Drive with one of the local expert trackers and guides to find: Kudu, oryx, giraffe, red hartebeest, eland, zebra, springbok, black wildebeest, duiker, bontebok and steenbok.
As there are no predators in the park, guests are free to explore on foot to view the birds and animals. Game drives are in customized open game viewer pick-up or game trailers.
You can also try your hand at the ancient sport of archery or test your marksmanship skills at the 3D bow hunting track.
Next up: Time for a Thali Thali West Coast ‘Foodie’ Lunch. The restaurant boasts a cosy interior dining and bar area and spacious outdoor deck situated next to a lapa, splash pool and kiddies play area.
After lunch we drive to the West Coast Fossil Park: one of South Africa’s most unique and important National Heritage Sites.
The highlight of the West Coast Fossil Park is the ‘live’ exhibit of an ongoing excavation of early Pliocene fossils. There are daily guided tours which give a background to the fossils and the climatic changes that happened in the region.
The current Visitor Centre also hosts a small Museum with some of the most impressive original specimens on display; a cosy Coffee Shop with delicious home-bakes and a small gift shop. Your Guided Walk will include a coffee /tea in the restaurant.
Leaving the Fossil Park we return home via the R27 West Coast Road. If time allows and the weather is in our favour, we continue to Langebaan Lagoon for a walk on the beach
We return to Cape Town with amazing photos and fond memories.
