Date: 5 & 26 May

Time: 14:00

Location: Evita Se Perron, Darling

Contact: +27 22 492 3930 | bookings@evita.co.za

Description:

A new show about forgetting, forgiving, remembering, faking, making-up and doing: “WHEN IN DOUBT SAY DARLING” – an entertainment with Pieter-Dirk Uys and other darlings.

Sometimes politics repeats itself, not only taking history and turning it into farce, but taking farce and turning into the fake news which is now called entertainment.

Pieter-Dirk Uys is sorting out 40 years of distress, disguise and disgust: from apartheid to tripartite, from amandla to Nkandla, from Brexit to Zexit.

Wigs, glasses, wagging fingers, toyi-toyis, red berets, trump cards of madness, icons and aikonas; from Bezuidenhouts, Raubenheimers, Ramaphosas to Altzheimers.

At a time when a casual greeting or embrace can be seen as racist or harassment, the advice is simple: when in doubt say darling.

If you can’t remember their names, just say darling.

Adapt or Fly

Contact: +27 22 492 3930 | bookings@evita.co.za

Description: It is 30 years since Pieter‑Dirk Uys started his total onslaught on politics with Adapt or Dye in 1981. Everything has changed so radically that some issues have become the same! Julius Malema’s recent outbursts have led to some citizens enquiring about emigration. An ANC spokesman added fuel to the fire by suggesting that ‘all cowards can go if they can’t take the future here’. Adapt or Fly! 1981 and today rollick hand‑in‑hand through the ups and downs of South African politics. It’s even funnier now, while it also still chills to the bone.

Darling Brew Extreme 2018

Contact: 0719012532 | dbexperience@darlingbrew.co.za

The DBX18 mountain bike challenge, together with Retail Capital, offers four routes to choose from. Each route is named after one of Darling Brew’s quaffable brews and will make use of a combination of single track, jeep track and farm roads in and around Darling. The routes range from the super endurance long course for experienced MTB enthusiasts, to the less challenging short ride for the family, novices and youngsters.

The race will start and finish at Darling Brew, where the Brewery offers riders and spectators a relaxed ambiance with family friendly surroundings, ample secure parking, locally brewed craft beer, entertainment and tasty eats. This year there will be awesome prizes available en route and the Stone Jets will be wooing the crowds before and after the prize giving.

Entries for DBX18 are now open and have been known to sell out fast.  Each entry includes a Darling Vleismark droëwors, a Darling Dairies yoghurt and a Darling Brew beer glass and Darling Brew beer (for 18s and over).

DBX’s community project of choice is DRESS, a recycling swap shop based close to the brewery and to their hearts. DBX will be donating bicycles for Darling youths to ‘buy’ with their recycling collections. One of these lucky kids will receive his/her well- deserved bike on the day of the race.  DRESS will be on site on race day to recycle your valuable waste. If you wish to contribute further to this good cause, you can do so with your DBX entry.
