The restaurant at the golf club has something to suit most taste buds, check out their menu here. The Sunset Terrace is a relaxed space for chilling with a pizza, steak or fresh fish, while the Legends Bar and Cocktail Lounge is the place to be when a major sporting event is on. 5. Explore a nature reserve around a nuclear power plant
Yes, the Koeberg Power Station has a fabulous reserve that is home to indigenous Strandveld and Duineveld vegetation as well as a host of small buck, Zebra, Caracul, Mongoose, Ostrich and a wide variety of birds including the African Fish Eagle. This reserve has MTB trails suitable for most levels of skills as there is very little climbing involved, as well as two hiking trails, one of 13km and a shorter six km walk. This reserve is 11km from the Lodge.
6. Enjoy a day in Darling
This charming town is a scenic 48 km drive from the lodge and offers excellent wine farms to visit and a lunch stop at Darling Brew is a must. The variety of craft beer they produce and the inspiring food pairings must be experienced to be believed. Be sure to ask about the stories behind each beer and find out why they are all named after animals. Look out for the Darling Sweet, homemade toffee that is very more-ish, and do visit the museum, It is not a dull and boring place, it is more like a recreation of life back in the day, showcasing everything from old cameras to clothes, furniture and farming equipment.
7. Feel the sand in your toes
A walk, a swim, some fishing or just sitting staring at Robben Island and Table Mountain is always good for the soul. The beaches at Melkbosstrand are a short drive from the lodge, or head down to Eden on the Bay in Blaauwberg where beachside cafes and pubs add to the enjoyment.
