Second Darling Scarecrow Festival held 26 – 28 October 2018

Darling welcomed visitors from all over to the second Darling Scarecrow Festival, the past weekend.

Close to 70 scarecrows made by Darling residents were displayed around the village and visitors could participate in the Scarecrow Route by purchasing a scarecrow badge and identifying the number of registered scarecrows. The closest estimates were placed in a lucky draw and one lucky person won a Darling Hamper worth R5 000!

Participants in the Scarecrow Route could also vote for their favourite scarecrow. ”Wagter en Stoutgat” from High Street, was voted the most popular creation and “Ouma and Oupa” also from High Street, in second place.

On Saturday evening the Scarecrow Party and Auction were held at Evita se Perron and almost R23 000 were raised in favour of Koranrug Primary Farm School.

In spite of the heat, the villge was buzzing with activities and we would like to thank all the visitors, locals, participating businesses, volunteers and sponsors for making the Darling Scarecrow Festival possible! See you next year, the last weekend in October.

Keep an eye on the Darling Tourism website and Darling Scarecrow Festival social media pages for updates on the 2019 event.
