Groote Post – upon Darling Hills

Groote Post is situated in Darling, Cape Town, South Africa. It’s about a one-hour drive from Cape Town and can be reached via the R27. If you’re travelling from Cape Town, take the R27 towards Langebaan, and turn right onto Darling Hills Road opposite the Grotto Bay turnoff. After 10 km, turn right to the Groote Post cellar. Alternatively, take the R307 out of Darling towards Cape Town and turn off at Darling Hills Road. After 7km, turn left to the Groote Post Cellar.

Wine tastings — can be booked from Monday to Sunday with a tasting fee of R45 per
wine tasting for 6 Groote Post wines.
Birdwatching — Located at the Klawervlei dam, the Groote Post Bird Hide offers a
unique experience to bird and nature lovers. The 34 different bird species make this a
bird lover’s paradise.
Picnics — picnic platters are freshly prepared on a daily basis. Hilda's Picnic Platters are
to be ordered 48 hours in advance. Available for R225 per person and a picnic pack for
kids under 10 at R95.
Farm drives — explore 2 000 hectares game camp of conservation-worthy natural
vegetation, including the highly threatened Swartland Granite Renosterveld, Swartland
Shale Renosterveld, Atlantis Sand Fynbos, and indigenous animals like kudu and black
wildebeest.

Restaurant and wedding venue

The restaurant (Hilda’s Kitchen) is set in the Manor House, which overlooks vine-covered
courtyards. Daytime weddings are trendy at the farm, where wedding services can be
held on the lawn or on the rocks overlooking the Ceremonial Bell. Guests are entertained
outdoors, and lunch is served in the Manor House. There are also numerous photo
opportunities for capturing your special day.
