NEW 2-DAY WEST COAST FLOWER TOUR LAUNCHED ON CAPE WEST COAST
An exciting new 2-day tour of the Cape West Coast has been launched – offering visitors a phenomenal and unique snapshot of this beautiful, and often unexplored, part of South Africa currently in full bloom.
The Kettie Flower 2-Day Tour has been created by travel experts for the region and takes you on a whirlwind journey of the Cape West Coast – with a diverse range of activities and venues included in the itinerary, from nature walks to river cruises, beer tasting and many other exciting things in between such as the bursting fields of wild flowers.
The first of many to come “Kettie Travel, which was founded by West Coast Way to answer the increased interest and demand for guided tours and trails, are creating a basket of value-packed, fun and exciting tours designed to showcase the best experiences and top Cape West Coast award-winning attractions, accommodation, and activities. This 2-day Flower Tour is the first Kettie Travel offering and will see air-conditioned vehicles collect guests from the Cape Town airport and various hotels and collection points in Cape Town before departing on a true West Coast adventure,” explains Carmen Lerm, founder of West Coast Way.
What to expect?
The first stop, amongst many, is at !Khwa ttu, the award winning San Heritage Centre. Visitors can look forward to things like a Bushmen guided nature walk, story telling around a traditional fire in the replica Bush village, tea-tasting and lunch. The visit includes entry into the brand new Way Of The San experience centre where new-age digital technology meets the spirit of the San.
Following !Khwa ttu is a visit to the West Coast National Park, with a stop at the famous Preekstoel in Kraalbaai before heading to a stunning lookout point from where you can see Table Mountain National Park on a clear day.
Launch offer – flowers at Postberg
“The Kettie Travel Flower 2-Day tour is officially launching in September – just in time to take advantage of natures most beautiful annual flower display in the Postberg section of the West Coast National Park,” explains Lerm.
“We are very excited to be able to include a trip through the Postberg Section – which is only open to the public during the flower season in August and September each year.”.
From the West Coast National Park the tour takes you to the Thali Thali Game Lodge for a guided game drive amongst large patches of wildflowers. Expect to see animals such as Cape Buffalo, Kudu, Oryx, Giraffe, Red Hartebeest, Eland, Zebra, Springbok and West Coast birdlife such as the African Black Harrier. Here you will spend the night in the ‘glamping’ luxury tents on platforms in biodversity rich nature each with en-suite bathroom and showers, enjoying a specially hosted West Coast dinner – think crackling fires under a beautiful starry sky (perfect for star gazing).
On Day two of the Kettie Flower Tour you head out to Port Owen, Velddrif for lunch and craft beer tasting at Charlies Brew House and a Berg River cruise (weather dependent) before heading out to the little town of Darling for the famous Darling Brew experience.
The offerings of craft beer can be fully enjoyed knowing that the chauffeur driven transport will return everyone to Cape Town to the various designated drop-off points.
“Kettie Travel is the embodiment of the unique West Coast Way experience of feeling on top of the world whilst exploring the ‘down-to-earth’ experiences of the Cape West Coast – the delicious food, quaint towns, pristine beaches, untouched nature and colourful people. “Kettie” translated into English means “sling shot” and this is what the Kettie tours are all about – fast, fun, powerfully evocative and memorable!
The 2-Day West Coast Way tour offers departure days every Tuesdays and Thursdays and each trip takes a minimum of 3 people and a maximum of 12 – with a per person cost of R4945 per person sharing and R6195 for single supplement.
