Hettie Wainwright was raised next to the Atlantic Ocean in Bloubergstrand and as a consequence, her creativity was heavily influenced by Cape Town beaches. In some of her Atlantic Jewel designs, she upcycled old beach glass; in others, she used cuttlefish shells to form metal castings.

She is a talented soul who knows how to nurture the artistic ability in someone. Louise often guides her art class attendees by saying, “paint what you see and then what you feel”. The goal is first to paint what you see and then to paint the emotion the scene makes you feel. After, you’ll bury away the inspiration you brought along and paint what you feel the painting needs.
