Interview with Mr James Vos, Shadow Minister of Tourism and Member of Parliament: “The fundamental concept sustaining the establishment of tourism routes is based on the notion of linking together a series of tourism attractions in order to promote the local economy by encouraging visitors to travel from one location to another. I believe that this initiative will bring together a variety of activities and attractions under a unified theme and as a result stimulate entrepreneurial opportunity through the development of additional products and services.”

The launch was attended by the Mayor of Swartland Municipality, which is served by the West Coast Way Scenic Route, Mr Tijmen van Essen. He formally opened the Scenic Route to guests attending the launch in 2016.

West Coast Way is a unique collection of themed routes that can be enjoyed by locals and visitors when they do an adventure-filled Cape West Coast self-drive trip for a day trip or an extended West Coast Holiday. The new West Coast Way “basket” of free routes on offer include the West Coast Way Tractor Route, the West Coast Way Berg Route, the West Coast Way Foodie Route, the West Coast Way Cultural Route – as well as the newly launched West Coast Way Wild Route, all of which are designed to showcase the many attractions and activities that are already on offer on the Cape West Coast and inland areas – but may be unknown to many.

Carmen Lerm the founder of West Coast Way would like to encourage Cape West Coast attractions, actitivies and accommodation places to register online (limited availablity – find link below) to obtain their free pass to roam on either of the 3 show days. “Benefits include the ability to make the right contacts with national and international travel and tourism visitors with whom you can engage in real business conversations. This will help inspire you to develop your business and have new insight into the coming year’s tourism opportunities for the Cape West Coast.” WTM Africa is a business to business (B2B) exhibition for inbound and outbound Africa travel and tourism markets and therefore not open to the general public.

The Tradeshow provides an unmissable opportunity to showcase Cape West Coast products to more than 150 members of the press and influential bloggers around the world. WTM Africa attracts both African and international journalists with media representatives ranging from travel and tourism industry press, consumer newspapers and magazines, to TV and radio.
