James Vos gets appointed by the City of Cape Town Executive Mayor to serve as Member of the Mayoral Committee

Statement by James Vos

I am honoured to accept the nomination from the City of Cape Town Executive Mayor to serve as Member of the Mayoral Committee.

This comes at a time of increased public attention to the political affairs taking place in the Metro and therefore I regard my appointment as an incredible opportunity to help build our reputation as a well-governed City where people must feel the DA difference.

I believe this is an incredible opportunity to serve the citizens of our Mother City. The Executive Mayor has tasked me with focussing on the key sectors within our city that can stimulate economic growth such as business development, tourism, and property management.

Yesterday was my last day as Member of Parliament. It was truly an incredible experience and privilege to serve the people of our beautiful country in the National Assembly. I enjoyed the opportunity to work with the tourism industry as the DA Shadow Minister and for the memories, I will be taking with me.

My new portfolio has the potential to ensure that we continue to be the go-to city on the African continent and globally for business, trade, and tourism.

We have a diverse economy that is creating jobs and keeping unemployment low.

I will continue to build on this success by working with industries and communities to invest in projects and programmes that will drive demand and make business sense.
