The annual Hopefield Fynbos Show is one of the largest community events in our town.
This year’s show will take place from 30 August to 2 September 2018.

The Fynbos show focuses on the importance of the conservation of the Fynbos biodiversity zones directly adjacent to Hopefield and both the flower display and herbarium are rated as one of the best in the country!

This show is also FOR THE COMMUNITY – BY THE COMMUNITY – and every year, we have an incredible number of volunteers from our town that are involved in the collection of the plants, the building of the plant display, gate duties, guides for the hall and other positions. We simply could not run this show without you!

SANParks Week

South African National Parks (SANParks) will be hosting its 13th annual SA National Parks Week from 10 to 14 September 2018. This initiative in partnership with Total South Africa and FNB is in line with SANParks vision statement of ‘A sustainable National Park System Connecting Society’.

The week grants free access to most of the 21 national parks for day visitors, especially people from the local communities. It should be noted that free access to parks does not in include free access to accommodation facilities and other tourist activities. 

Kardoesie N7 Track Challenge

Description: The N7 Track Challenge MTB & Trail run brings the Cederberg and Swartland together and provide the competitor with breathtaking views, with features as:

Citrus-, Rooibos- and Grain- plantations, [with some Canola lands in between],
Hand build single track with flow and technical parts,
Parts of Piekenierskloof Blazing saddle track
And the most famous Grey’s Pass (old gravel Piekenierskloof Pass)

The income of the N7 Track Challenge MTB & Trail run goes back into the community and to the Guide Dog Association to train more dogs for the disabled.

The day will be pack full of fun family activities- Lucky draws, jumping castles, small kiddies area [bring scooter along), coffee-hamburgers-jaffle- etc. stalls, and awesome music.

And after competing enjoy a refreshing hot shower or for the more braving competitors a nice cold swim in the swimming pool.

Battle Up Blaauwberg Hill Trail Challenge

The increasingly popular Battle Up Blaauwberg Hill Trail Challenge is back for its eighth year in 2018. This year featuring a new route and a new start/finish at the glamorous new Table Bay Mall, closer and easier to get to with ample parking.

The West Coast Athletic Club in partnership with the Friends of Blaauwberg Conservation Area and Table Bay Mall are organising the Battle Up Blaauwberg Hill Trail Challenge event on Saturday 29th September 2018, with two distances – 10km & 16km options.

Blaauwberg Conservation Area (BCA) is one of over 30 natural areas managed by the City of Cape Town. The BCA was proclaimed a Local and Provincial Nature Reserve in 2007.

The reserve has a spectacular view, down Fynbos slopes, across the city to 7km of rocky, sandy coastline, the ocean and beyond – it’s the only viewpoint in the world from which you can see two proclaimed world heritage sites (Table Mountain and Robben Island).
