Experience a one day guided tour from and to Cape Town – A Day Out Of The Office
West Coast Way Darling Wine & Beer Tour
STOP 1: EVITA SE PERRON
Our first stop of the morning is at one of South Africa’s most famous and flamboyant attractions: Evita se Perron – the theatre and playground of South Africa’s most famous ‘tannie’ (aunt) and satirist, Evita Bezuidenhout. Walk through the garden and get a look at South Africa’s troubled past and turbulent present displayed with wonderfully irreverent humour. Sculptures titled ‘Gravy Train’ and ‘Burassic Park’ are just a few of the delights of this offbeat museum. Your visit includes a warm welcome and a koeksister (traditional Afrikaans delicacy) and coffee/tea from the Restaurant.
STOP 2: DARLING SWEET
After your culture stop the trip continues to Darling Sweet for a delectable toffee tasting where you will get to hear how this unique toffee brand was started and get to taste new innovative products, like the new Toffee Spread!
STOP 3: DARLING BREW
Our next stop is Darling Brew for a beer tasting and the inside scoop on how South Africa’s best craft beer is made. You will be taken on a tour of the brewery! Darling Brew is also the place where you will get to enjoy lunch – made from locally sourced ingredients such as olives, artisan bread, charcuterie, braaivleis (barbecue) and wholesome vegetarian options! This is the ‘slow beer, slow food‘ country.
STOP 4: GROOTE POST
Our final stop of the day is at Groote Post Wine Cellar, a historic 18th-century farm on the Cape’s West Coast where the unique aspects and cool climatic conditions of the Darling Hills yield superlative fruit and excellent wines.
They offer farm drives through the game camp where you’ll be able to spot some of Africa’s indigenous antelope (The Eland, Kudu, Gemsbok, Bontebok, Springbok, Red Hartebeest, Fellow Deer, Ostrich, Black Wildebeest as well as Quagga). You can also enjoy nature walks which are most spectacular in spring as the farm forms part of the famous West Coast Spring Flower Route.
