Friday 6 – Sunday 8 May
For the second year running Riebeek Valley First Fridays Weekend celebrates the olive harvest – with a difference.
#FirstFriday #oliveharvest2022 #riebeekvalley
Olive tastings and olive parings, olive dishes, olive recipes, olive oils and other olive products will be abundant, but also expect to find an exciting fine art exhibition, a fabulous Saturday market, special events at select wine and olive estates and businesses, live music, theatre and poetry performances, special offers at shops, restaurants and accommodation venues and, of course, the finest pressings of our famous Swartland grapes. Oh, and did we mention olives?
Celebrate at Kloovenburg
Have you been to Kloovenburg Wine and Olive Estate’s new Kringe Inni Bos picnic area yet?
How utterly indulgent it is to relax under the large pine trees, while sipping on a glass of one of the fabulous Kloovenberg wines! And why not pair it with their delicious olives, or a yummy pizza, burger or wrap. With plenty of activities for the kiddos, whilst mom and dad take a breather.

Merindol Manor is one example of such accommodation. It is one of the oldest heritage homes in the picturesque wine and olive producing Riebeek Valley.
Once a stately family home, now a lovingly restored boutique guesthouse, Merindol Manor has landscaped gardens, its own olive grove and freshly-picked fruit and vegetables from its bountiful gardens. Breakfast eggs are collected from the fluffy hens each morning.

Into Olive Pressing?
Contract Olive Pressing at The Olive Boutique
Established in 2000, the award winning Olive Boutique is a proudly South African, Olive Oil, Olive and Vinegar Tasting Bar located in Riebeek Kasteel, in the Riebeek Valley.
Over the past 20 years, the Valley has established itself as one of the primary olive oil and olive producing regions in South Africa. The Boutique has been part of this evolution.
The Olive Boutique in Riebeek Kasteel will open for the 2022 contract olive pressing season on Monday, 11th April. For those who don’t know them, they mill olive oil for local growers. No quantity of olives is too small. If they can weigh them, they will press them! They cater for the hobbyist, bringing in 10 kg of olives; the garagista who brings in up to 500 kg and the commercial olive farmer who brings in a ton a day.
By their best projections, olives will be ready for picking in early May. Don’t hesitate to contact them on 022 448-1368 to discuss your plans for the coming olive harvest.
Visit Riebeek Valley over Friday 6 – Sunday 8 May – and stay for a wonderful relaxing weekend!
