Road trips are all about early morning starts, breakfast at your favourite padstal just after 8am, copious amounts of coffee and tons of laughter.
At West Coast Way this thinking runs in our very blood. We love sharing the many fascinating aspects of our beloved West Coast with you. With 6 routes to choose from, we have every interest covered, even the foodies. We are indeed South Africa’s road trip with the most twists.
Ready, Steady, Go!
Fall in love with Cape Town all over again! The Lodge at Atlantic Beach, located in Melkbosstrand at the start of the West Coast, offers breath taking views of Table Mountain that will re-ignite your love for the Mother City. Wait ‘till her lights come on for the show to truly start, as you are perfectly positioned from your luxuriously appointed room to take in this wonder.
We all love a little dazzle display from time to time – let The Lodge at Atlantic Beach play host to your evening of indulgence and relaxation.

Hakuna Matata!
Come notch up your first safari experience, or add another safari to your list of exploits, at Thali Thali Game Lodge. Just an hours drive from Cape Town, this 1 460 hectare property tempts the wildlife enthusiast, both newly discovered and established, with sightings of Cape Buffalo, Water Buffalo, Oryx, Giraffe and so many more.
Safari’s are thirsty work so the deck of the lodge’s restaurant and bar is often a welcome reprieve to guests having spent time in the African bush. And with three accommodation offerings at Thali Thali Game Lodge, you may just find yourself staying over and doing it all again the next day. There’s no telling what you will do once the bush bug bites!

Ah We Love Our Rosie!
Step back in time in the village of Velddrif, the heart of the fishing industry along the West Coast, as you explore Bokkomlaan. The first road in Velddrif is renowned for bokkoms, a dried salted silvery fish. And we have three ways for you to explore the local gem of Bokkomlaan.
Take in the abundant birdlife as you cruise up the Berg River with Cracklin’ Rosie River Tours. Owner Wendy says seeing pelicans here is like seeing lions in the Kruger Park. Find Wendy and Skipper Nico just off the pier along Bokkomlaan.
Back on terra-firma, take a stroll and meet artist Marina Clunie at River Studio. A converted fisheries building along Bokkomlaan now serves as a studio to this local who is inspired by the play of light, water and the sky here on her little piece of heaven along the Berg River.
Lastly Ek and Djy Vissery is a must stop along Bokkomlaan, open from 9am until everyone has had enough! Serving good food not fast food, owners Gert and Magdel specialise in fish dishes and their famous all-day breakfast called Africa Burn. Bikers and dogs are welcome too!
