The coast with the most: Cape West Coast
The Cape West Coast has received a catchy new title that it extremely fitting for this special part of South Africa – “Weskusbeskus”.
“Weskusbeskus” is an identity that has been launched by West Coast Way, the company that has made it its mission to market and promote the Cape West Coast and surrounds.
Carmen Lerm, founder and CEO of West Coast Way explains that they wanted to create a memorable slogan that summarises everything that the Cape West Coast offers – the rich culture, friendly, warm people, delicious local foods, spectacular, vibrant scenery, diverse activities and attractions for all ages, and so much more.
“The Cape West Coast is a treasure trove of things to see and do and it is located on the doorstep of one of South Africa’s most popular cities – Cape Town. Many local South Africans, and foreign visitors, may not be aware of how much this spectacular area has to offer and so West Coast Way is passionate about creating awareness and attracting visitors to the area.”
“Weskusbeskus is a catchy, funky and powerful slogan that epitomises the Cape West Coast. Weskusbeskus is designed to embody the spirit and ethos of the West Coast; to invoke dreams for holiday makers and importantly – pride for the locals.”
Lerm goes on to say that the Weskusbeskus title is also about simplicity. “It is a simple yet authentic statement – the Weskus is the Beskus – it is our best coast. On the Cape West Coast visitors will find authentic and honest experiences. It is about slow living, friendly face-to-face personal contact, wholesome fresh local foods, open spaces where you can immerse yourself in nature, and epic road trips for all ages, and one of the best climates in South Africa.”
Weskusbeskus to unite locals in a mission
Lerm explains that West Coast Way was launched five years ago to market the Cape West Coast and significantly increase the number of visitors to the area. “To do this we created South Africa’s road trip with the most twists where visitors can explore a unique collection of over 101 destinations along themed routes. Now we are on a mission to have the Cape West Coast nominated as one of the TOP 10 Best Places To Visit In South Africa and Weskusbeskus is planned to unite the West Coast people in this common goal.
The West Coast Way basket of free routes includes the Tractor, Berg, Foodie, Cultural, Wild and Cape Way Route – all of which are designed to showcase the many attractions and activities that are on offer on the Cape West Coast and inland areas – but may be unknown to many. Locals and foreigners alike can plan a road trip vacation along any one of the West Coast Way Routes – mixing and matching selected stops from the various routes to suite personal tastes, and spending as long, or as little, a time as desired exploring all that the Cape has to offer. There is also the option to book a guided tour through West Coast Way’s sister company, Kettie Travel, for some of the routes.
“West Coast Way is completely committed to boosting tourism on the Cape West Coast and the ongoing roll-out of new, fresh ideas is core to our strategy,” concludes Lerm. “We look forward to rolling out the Weskusbeskus slogan and have exciting plans in place to make it a household name.”
