The dorp is well known for its lush display of wildflowers during spring, abundant birdlife, moderate all-year climate, and long stretches of endless white beaches that often have Heaviside’s dolphins prancing out the blue waters. Life takes you through many journeys, but the best ones are led by #WestCoastWay. Take the West Coast Way Wild Route, visit Lambert’s Bay, and you can expect to:

  • Uncover the history of the town.
  • Be amazed by natural attractions.
  • Spend time at the town’s favourite restaurants.
  • Enjoy beachfront and farm accommodation.
  • Explore the Farmers Market at Malkoppan.

Sandveld Museum

The Lambertsbaai Sandveld Museum is a great point to kick your explorations off, where visitors can uncover more about the crayfish mecca of South Africa. The museum offers an educational and historical experience of Lambert’s Bay, with 15 various exhibits that display ‘old’ Lambert’s Bay, the HMS Sybille Gunboat, a photography collection, the fish industry and fishing community, a book & Bible collection, an archaeological display, a horse mill and farm implements, and clothes and embroidery from the olden days.

Bird Island

Lambert’s Bay is also home to one of six Cape gannet breeding sites in the world and the only one with access by foot. Visit Bird Island and gain a rare experience when coming face-to-face with the blue-eyed Cape gannet. The gannet lookout is the best spot to see, come close to, and witness the Cape gannets’ unique mating dances. The island is approximately three hectares large and is joined to the mainland via a breakwater.

Lambert’s Bay Restaurants

Enjoy alfresco meals from local restaurants, stroll along mussel-shell pathways, and sip on luscious local wines in Lamberts Bay. The little town has two brilliant options if you’re looking for somewhere to scarf up yummy seafood while out in the fresh Lambert’s Bay air. Try Bosduifklip for traditional and seafood dishes, the perfect place to wine and dine for nature lovers. The venue also offers its facilities for birthday parties, end-year functions, and weddings. Muisbosskerm is your other restaurant option to enjoy a meal under the Lambert’s Bay sky. Specialising in seafood, this restaurant offers a seafood experience of a lifetime! But that is no surprise, as National Geographic voted the restaurant as one of the ‘Top Ten Sea Views to Dine For’.
